Peer Advocates for Wellbeing (PAW) is an opportunity offered through Student Wellbeing Services at 草莓社区, East Bay. We are accepting applications for the following position:

PAW Position Tracks

PAW assists with programs and services to support the needs of the CSUEB campus community inclusive of basic needs and wellness topics within one of the two tracks:

  • Programming & Outreach
    • Focus on resource-based engagement through development and implementation of wellbeing activities and events
    • Program planning role with wellbeing activities focused on topics including alcohol and other drugs education, nutrition/food access, sexual and reproductive health, and self-care/stress management.
    • Group-level interactions from small group facilitation to large group presentations
    • Collaboration with campus departments and organizations on outreach events and activities
  • Service Delivery
    • Focus on tailored customer service of wellbeing services in the WellNest and Wellness Center
    • Operational and attendant role with wellbeing services including the Relaxation Rooms, Wellness Lounge, and Food Pantry.
    • One-on-one interactions utilizing motivational interviewing approach
    • Promotion of resources regarding alcohol and other drugs education, nutrition/food access, sexual and reproductive health, and self-care/stress management.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Be a currently enrolled 草莓社区, East Bay student and enrolled during Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters
  • Be in good academic standing (minimum GPA 2.0)
  • Commit to PAW training from August 3-14, 2026 (see information below)
  • Commit to working Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters
    • 15-20 hours per week, minimum 2 weekdays per week
    • Ability to work during the first two weeks of Fall Semester 2026 and Spring Semester 2027
  • Attend weekly PAW Meetings on Fridays from 10am-12pm during Fall Semester 2026 and Spring Semester 2027

All positions are required to work in person.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Previous peer educator or food pantry experience
  • Leadership or volunteer experience
  • Public Health, Kinesiology, Sociology, Psychology, or similar majors
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service experience
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and outreach skills

 

Summer 2026 PAW Training

If selected for a position, the applicant must successfully complete the required PAW Training during August 2026. All training is conducted in person and includes the opportunity to become a Certified Peer Educator. PAW Training will take place Monday through Friday, August 3-14, 2026.

Individuals selected for a position will have an option to get an early start with PAW. The Early Start PAW Experience takes place in person from June through July 2026.

  • Only individuals who meet minimum qualifications will be considered for an interview. If selected for an interview, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment for an interview. 
  • Qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews after April 3, 2026.

Supplementary Questionnaire

Keep your responses to 250 words or less per question. There will be a section in the PAW application where you can upload either a Word document or PDF with your responses.

  1. Peer Advocates for Wellbeing (PAW) assists Student Wellbeing Services with a variety of outreach events and workshops for the campus community. Tell us about your experience with tabling, delivering presentations, etc. If you haven’t done this, what skills do you have that could contribute to this type of experience?
  2. PAW engages with individuals and provides resources and educational information on topics such as food access, safer sex supplies, etc. Tell us about your experience providing one-on-one peer support and referrals. If you haven’t done this, what skills do you have that could contribute to this type of experience?
  3. PAW provides support with delivering our services including our food pantry and relaxation rooms. Tell us about your experience with customer service and responding to customers. 
  4. Describe any previous experience as it relates to teamwork and communication. Include any leadership experiences from other universities, high school, and/or community agencies. Include name of organization, approximate dates worked, and position responsibilities.
